Did you know that in X-DAM you can double click on an asset to get a larger preview And zoom? Actually, in XDAM we generate a handful of pre configured thumbnail sizes for different applications in the system. When a user drops assets from their desktop we take the original and create a large, Medium, Small and Extra Small thumb.

This way of doing things causes a bit more overhead on the system and it could be argued that after the original file is uploaded and the asset viewer thumbnail is generated a user would only really need to work with a large thumbnail. Over time we’ve found generating multiple thumb sizes have more benefit than drawbacks. This allow us to use the various sizes all around the system with little to no drag on the system for the end user.
